Snoqualmie
Prosser, Washington resembles many small farming communities in the Pacific Northwest. The pace is slow, hats are tipped in greeting and business is done with a handshake. Yet despite its similarity to other rural settings, the town is far from ordinary because it is home to one of the state’s oldest wineries, Snoqualmie.
Founded in the early 1980s, Snoqualmie has always sourced its fruit exclusively from local vineyards to produce wines that reflect the values of the people – straightforward and honest. The wines also reveal the philosophy of Snoqualmie’s longtime winemaker Joy Andersen (below), who prefers to let the bold, natural fruit flavors shine through rather than mask them with unnecessary winemaking tools. Joy’s touch is subtle and the wines echo her personality: character without attitude and precision without pretense.
Though growth has come to this part of the world, farmers take great care to leave this unspoiled environment unblemished. Snoqualmie is doing its part by introducing sustainable and organic farming practices to its vineyards. This will ensure the health of the soil and vines, keeping them fertile for future generations.
One outgrowth of such practices is Snoqualmie’s line of Naked wines, which are made with certified organically-grown grapes. These wines are pure expressions of the vineyards in which they were grown – fresh and clean, with all the bright flavors Mother Nature intended.
Wines crafted by a proven winemaker, with pristine fruit from healthy vineyards, in a community that values its agricultural roots – this is Snoqualmie!
