Northstar
The mission at Northstar has been the same from day one in 1994 – to make a truly world-class Merlot from Washington grapes. And since its inaugural vintage, that is exactly what Northstar’s winemaking team has been doing. Northstar Columbia Valley Merlot is typically evocative of wines from Bordeaux’s “Right Bank,” and strikes the perfect balance between power and finesse.
With the completion of a new state-of-the-art winery and planting of its estate vineyards in 2002, Northstar joined the prestigious Walla Walla Valley wine community – home of appellation pioneers Leonetti Cellars, Woodward Canyon and L’Ecole No. 41, as well as nearly 100 other quality-minded wineries. To celebrate its new home, Northstar introduced a second Merlot, sourced exclusively from the Walla Walla Valley. The third nationally-distributed wine produced by Northstar is a red blend called Stella Maris. Made from many of the blending grapes brought in for the two Northstar Merlots, “Stella” offers great complexity and exceptional value.
